If you think you're born into mediocrity, and being 'special' is someone else's god-given priviledge, think again:

" And every Master has likewise had the same message: What I am, you are. What I can do, you can do. These things, and more, shall you also do. "
- God, from the bestselling book Conversations with God

Magic Questions

"With unlimited time and money, what would you like to see yourself becoming in the next 5 years?"

"Why is that important to you?"

Have you ever answered those questions before?

If you haven't, perhaps you might want to take a moment to think about them. The first question, when taken seriously, helps you discover where your passion, and your greatest potential, lies in Life. The second invokes an emotional response that serves to further strengthen that conviction.

I recall a time all the way back when I was just inducted into Unicity, and my training with Eng Hai began when he asked me: "What is the ideal Kelly like?"

To which I said: "He's a confident person, strong & assertive, and very charismatic!"

"And why is being that person important to you?"

I remember feeling an overwhelming emotion build inside of me as I muttered: "Because I'm tired of being inconfident, unpopular, and always in the background."

And those 2 questions has become the pillar for my growth over the last 4 years in business.

However, be careful as these questions can also be misused.

Two months ago I was brought to a guest event by AsiaWorks, a company that does workshops for personal development. After sitting through the event, I decided to sign up and see how else I could better myself.

And so I was tended to by a lady who was in-charged of workshop sales who asked me: "So Kelly, what kind of person do you want to see yourself becoming?" And I answered that. And she went on to "And why is that so important to you?" Ah! I recognise that pattern! I'd rather not have just about anyone ask me those questions, but then it's a nice touch to have the sales person ask the prospective participant those questions, as it serves to secure their commitment into the workshop. I signed up with a deposit.

Then a few weeks later, someone else form the company called me for some pre-workshop preparations, and she too, asked me those same questions. What? Those questions again?I was a little annoyed, but I answered anyway.

And finally, I got a final call from yet ANOTHER person from the company, and, yes you've guessed it, they started asking me those same questions all over again. To say that I was a little annoyed is an understatement. I was furious! What's with these people!? Is my profile passed around the entire company for the scrutiny of every single staff in the office?

There's only 2 reasons why people would keep asking those questions:
1) They weren't listening and had to ask again
2) They're using those questions for emotional manipulation

Everytime someone has to answer those questions, it lays bare their being to others, and it takes alot out of them to do so. I say we ask those questions with lots of respect. To forget that and ask like it's a trivia game show only makes the respondee feel increasingly vulnerable, and nobody likes that. I don't like that.

These are magic questions to a better life. Treat them with respect.

Business Builder's Club III Recognition: Amidst the Home of the FreeMasons!

31st July, 2006 - Here at Unicity, we had our third round of Business Builder's Club recognition, and this is where we had it: At the Masonic Lodge in Singapore, Hill Street!

This is indeed quite an interesting change from the usual dinners at Ritz-Carlton Hotel, considering the fact that the Masonic Lodge, home of the Freemasons, is often surrounded with secrecy and mystery.

The Freemasons are a fraternity organisation who believes in a unique system of metaphysics and morality veiled in allegory and symbol. No longer a secret society, Freemasons have claimed that Freemasonry today is more like a "society with secrets".

Instead of a masonry initiation ritual, we had instead a recognition dinner at a restaurant in the Freemason's lodge, and as usual, I had alot of fun! This was like being invited to a dinner in a museum; there were just so many things to see! However, more fun than being invited to a fancy dinner, or being recognised (once again) as a leading Business Builder of Unicity, I am in truth more thrilled by the fact that this round, I am accompanied by 2 of my favorite business associates from my team: Christina Lee, and Stephanie Leong :) There's nothing like succeeding with your team mates trailing not far behind!

Congratulations goes out to the 2 of you:
To Christina, who has worked very hard to enjoy this recognition. Even up to the final week of the BBC qualifier, she had 5 people short of being in the BBC, a staggering feat, yet she didn't give up. She continued working even up till the last day, last hour, where she had me hold up the office an hour after it's closing time at 10pm, and had me running frenzied into the office, with her last application form at hand, and a bleeding lip to boot. Haha! Talk about a never say die attitude, eh? ;) Well Done, Chris!

And to Stephanie, for continuing to be an example of how, with a strong spirit and the right assistance from people who cared for you, anything can be done, despite any handicaps! Everyone is constantly amazed by you, including fellow associate Rupert, who tells me in the washroom about how inspired he was by you!

Amidst dinner, I came across a really interesting poster on the wall:

It says: Lets End All the Discontent: Elect a MASON President!

Haha! I loved that! But rather than being President, Mr Freemasons, why not consider being Presidential Diamond for Unicity? Then we'll really end all the discontent, and Make Life Better for as many people as we touch!

You're welcome to send in your questions, and I will get back to you very shortly (* required fields)
