The Story of the Slug and the World Gone Wrong
My girlfriend, Sandra, is a funny girl.
We were walking down the road on a cool monday morning, to have breakfast at a nearby coffee shop, when we came upon a slug that was flipped upside down.
"Oh look!" she exclaimed with an amused grin, "it must be panicking and wondering how come the world has become upside down all of a sudden!"
Then, in her best slug voice, she said: "Oh no, why has the world gone upside down all of a sudden? My parents and grandparents didn't tell me that the world would go upside down! I'm panicking!"
"So the slug just lies there, helpless, until some kind "sole" kicks it the right way up again, so it can happily crawl away." She ends her story with a cheeky laugh.
I laugh and think, haha, that's just like so many of us. When faced with a predicament, the slug thought everything else, but itself, was the wrong way up, and then it blames someone else for not preparing it. Finally, it waits for someone else to help it get back to its feet again.
That's why it remains a slug in this lifetime.
What an endearing story teller this girl is.
