Brilliant Commentary from Readers to Start the New Year!
Wow!
After returning from my business retreat in Mount Ophir (the highest peak in the region situated in Johor, Malaysia), I had no idea I would find 4 interesting comments about my last post about The Chronicles of Narnia, and I feel moved to have a whole new post to respond to them.
Achimka, thanks for your tip about learning more about the meaning of Aslan! When you referred to "some chapters in the letter of paul he sent to the romans", are you referring to the Narnia books or to the bible? I'm not very well versed in either of them: can someone help me out?
Bee, thanks for reminding me that sometimes its also important to enjoy the world like Lucy! Its nice to know someone else has enjoyed the movie as well :)
Terence, you have so much wisdom to share, I'm impressed :) I'll have to agree with you that there's a fine line between working our way out of our comfort zone and not losing our sense of self (that was Bee's point as well). I'll have to keep that in mind :)
I'm not so sure about the "being somebody that we are not meant to be" phrase though: we can be who we want to be, I really believe that. I suppose what we really mean to say is that we ought to be aware of the sacrifices that come with wanting something, and if the sacrifice is worth it, right? :)
A fellow team mate and one-time co-emcee, Julia, recently lent me a book called "The Dream Giver" by Bruce Wilkinson. This is a story about someone named Ordinary, who thought that his life was meant to be lived as a Nobody among many other Nobodies, until he discovered a Big Dream, inside of him, placed in him by the Dream Giver. They didn't say what kind of a Dream it was, but it was definitely one that meant something to him.
But before Ordinary embarked on his adventure to fulfill his Big Dream, he had to acknowledge that it exists, because, in Ordinary's own words: "I still don't feel worthy or able to do my Dream, but the Dream Giver has promised to help me." Sometimes people don't pursue their dreams because they don't feel that they are worthy, or good enough, to deserve it - so they tell themselves that "its not meant to be"; like an escape clause.
I feel all they need is a little faith, like Ordinary having faith that the Dream Giver will help him out :)
Thank you Achimka, Terence and Bee for your wonderful comments. Have a Happy New Year!

"being somebody that we are not meant to be"
There must be something that we are exceptionally good at doing. Something we are talented or gifted at. Something we are born to do and passionate about. Something that we can do so effortlessly that others find so difficult.
I believe that yes, with training and perseverence, we can be who we want to be. But to truly achieve great success, we must focus on our distinctive: our God-given talents. Why waste time building another set of talents and skills when you already have something you're good at and passionate about?
Hmm... ever wonder who "The Dream Giver" is?
